House nearly totaled by tornado and water damage
The Cedar Rapids home of Bernie Oleksa was hit by a tornado last July 20th. It tore off the roof, and the rains that followed caused extensive water damage.
“About 80 percent of the house was damaged by either the tornado or water damage.” Oleska said. Turning to Reconstruction 380, “I asked for references and Reconstruction 380 had them to me within hours,” he recalls. “Reconstruction 380’s experience with insurance claims was a comfort in that I didn’t have to be overly concerned by conflicts with the insurance holding up the work.”
Reconstruction 380’s Craig Mettille helped him communicate the scope of the damage to the insurance adjuster. “His (Mettille’s) experience working with insurance companies helped me understand how the process worked,” Oleksa said.
“Craig took the extra step to help find a rental house close by that I could rent while my home was being repaired,” he adds. During the repair work, which began the next day and was completed less than four months later, Oleksa says the project manager accommodated his schedule and provided valuable input on all the details that must be decided in a restoration project. “The efforts at the end of the project to get things done by the scheduled move-in date helped us move in before the (Thanksgiving) holidays,” Oleksa said.
Water-damaged home restored in 10 days
In 2002 Conrad and Gloria Smith, formerly of Cedar Rapids, was appalled when ice dams on their roof caused leaks that resulted in damage to the ceiling, walls and carpeting on three levels of their home, as well as the garage. Conrad did what many of us do when faced with a disaster at home that needs a reliable solution, and right now. “I asked a trusted friend for a recommendation,” he says.
That friend told him to call Reconstruction 380 and Conrad was not disappointed. “They responded immediately,” he recalls. “A polite, professional well-dressed crew came to our home to assess the extent of the damage.”
From there, things moved fast. Conrad says that from start to finish the restoration of his property took only about 10 days.
“From management to staff they are professional, punctual and polite,” Conrad says. “They did exactly what they said they would at the price quoted.”
